The Educational Foundation is the scholarship and grant portion of AAUW.  Nationally, AAUW is one of the largest sources of grants and scholarships for higher education.  For AAUW National, the Branch funds Career Development Grants and Community Action Grants with proceeds from the book sale, bridge group and other fundraisers. On a local level, the Branch funds scholarships at Brookdale Community College, Monmouth University and Douglass College. Every year, we also honor the top female senior math student in each of the 22 local high schools. Our investment in the educational future of woman is our major goal.

• Audrie LaTowsky Scholarship - Brookdale Community College, Lincroft, NJ
  
  
  Selected by Brookdale Community College, the recipient is a permanent Monmouth County Resident and preferably a graduate of an Eastern Monmouth County high school within the branch area or a Monmouth County resident student who is at least 25 years old and is continuing her education. Applications are available from January to May in the Brookdale Financial Aid Office.  The scholarship is awarded at the close of the spring semester for use starting the following fall.

• Louise Marsen Scholarship - Brookdale Community College, Lincroft, NJ
  Selected by the college, the recipient is a female student who is a Monmouth County permanent resident, at least 25 years old, and whose studies are in the Humanities.
  Applications are available from January to May in the Brookdale Financial Aid Office. The scholarship is awarded at the close of the spring semester for use starting the following fall.
  

• Esther Hymer Scholarship - Monmouth University, West Long Branch, NJ
  Selected by the university, the recipient is a junior or senior female resident of Monmouth County with a high GPA majoring in gender studies, political science, international relations or economics with a focus on women and with financial need.

Given this confusion, the best evidence for antidepressant effects we can hope to achieve with drugs is not as good with an active natural pathway, and not as good what we would expect from the effects of antidepressants and mood stabilizers on symptoms given the known effects of both on the brain. However, use of these newer drug strategies to treat depression is certainly more likely to change outcomes for some patients with depression than the use of a natural, non-toxic pathway for resolving symptoms. Although the studies that use newer drugs are more comprehensive in design and are a different research field as we go back to the 1960s with our data from drug trials, and the newer models of depression are often referred to as pharmacogenetics (the study of drug effects by the how or what is being given) it worth pointing out that since these were started the old antidepressants are still ones for psychiatric management. The new drugs were only introduced over the past few decades for psychiatric patients with specific side effects and not for the general population.
